Gingivitis is a common type of periodontal disease. The common symptoms include inflammation, tenderness, redness, and bleeding of the gums. Most of the time, this infection is brought about by a bacterial infection that spreads to the gums as a result of buildups of plaque and tartar. Periodontal disease is more common than you may think. In fact, half of American adults over the age of 30 are dealing with it. But is it contagious?
