Invisalign is the house-hold name in clear braces and orthodontics. While every orthodontic case is different, those interested in Invisalign tend to have one thing in common: their questions. As an Invisalign Preferred Provider, Dr. Jim Moreau is a great source of information, so we asked him some of the most common questions that those considering Invisalign have.

As always, if you have more questions, we have an awesome team standing by to schedule you for a complimentary consult to discuss more of your questions.

What is an “Invisalign Preferred Provider”?

Dr. Moreau: Invisalign assigns certain levels to doctors based on their level of experience in relation to the
number of patients they have treated with Invisalign aligners and have currently in progress. This means that Invisalign feels confident in that doctor’s ability to provide the quality of service the many expects and recommends them to patients seeking this treatment over other providers.

Invisalign Preferred ProviderIs an orthodontist my only option for treatment with Invisalign aligners?

Dr. Moreau: No, you can have treatment done by an orthodontist or a general dentist.

In 2001, Invisalign opened up their services to General Dentists. Prior to that, only Orthodontists were trained in their process. The first roll out to General Dentists included a mandatory, invitation-only training held in Lake Martin, Alabama in the summer of 2001. I am proud to say that I am one of 30 General Dentists who received an invitation, I attended the training, and did my first full Invisalign case in early 2002, making me one of the first 30 General Dentist in the United States to provide Invisalign.

Is Invisalign clear braces expensive?

Dr. Moreau: Every patient is different, so different levels of treatment are available, designed to best fit your individual needs. Depending on your specific case, you may not require a full set of aligners. The cost of your case is determined by the number of aligners and appointments your specific case will require. The one-time cost covers all needed impressions, appointments and adjustments, and phases of aligners.

If needed, our Financial Coordinator will help you set up financial options, either in house or with CareCredit. So that nothing will get in the way of having a healthy and beautiful smile, we will work with you to make Invisalign fit into your family budget.

Why Invisalign over other invisible braces brands?

Dr. Moreau: I have worked with other brands of invisible braces in the past, so I can speak from experience. While other brands are still very good and you can still achieve great results, I have found that Invisalign tends to have more positive aspects. For example, Invisalign tends to have faster results and work for a larger variety of cases. In general, sometimes going with a cheaper product or service is ok, however, when it comes to your face and your teeth it’s best to make sure you work with the best.

Does Invisalign interfere with everyday life and routine?

Dr. Moreau: No, and that’s the biggest selling point for invisible braces. Traditional metal and bracket braces restrict some of the foods you can eat, make it more difficult to floss, and they can be unattractive and uncomfortable. While you should wear your invisible aligners as much as possible, you are able to remove them for eating, brushing, and flossing. However, the more you wear them, the faster you will see results.

Invisalign also provides 6 free replacement retainers, in case one is lost or broken. So you won’t lose progress just because you forgot your aligner was wrapped up in that napkin you threw away at dinner.  And Invisalign also only requires office visits every 4 to 6 weeks, so there is little interruption in your life and routine.

Would Invisalign Work for Me?

Dr. Moreau: Invisible braces, and Invisalign in particular, can work with a wide range of orthodontic needs. However, there are some cases that cannot be corrected with invisible aligners. The best way to find out if it will work for you is to schedule a consult with your Invisalign trained orthodontist or general dentist. We actually offer free Invisalign consults at MoreSMILES.

How do I get started?

Dr. Moreau: Call us.

It starts with a phone call to your Invisalign orthodontist or general dentist, and reserve a time for your first Invisalign appointment. From there, your provider’s team will go over cost and payment options.
