Meet Our Staff

New Orleans Dentist, Dr. Moreau Dr. Jim Moreau

- I am a native New Orleanian but also an "old-timer" on the Northshore compared to most people in Mandeville/Covington. My Dad was a City Councilman in the city for a long time. After he bought a farm in Folsom in the 70's, he advised me to leave the city and open my practice on the Northshore when I graduated from dental school. Because my wife, Julie, and I have four young children, I like to say that my only hobbies are "weed-whacking and self-pity." But, seriously, I love traveling and experiencing different areas of the country while spending time with my wife and kids (2 girls and twin boys). Usually wherever one of us is, the rest are not far behind. Before kids, I flew airplanes and I loved reading, martial arts, and duck hunting. Dr. Finger, covington dentist Dr. Israel Finger

- Prosthodontists are dental specialists who have undergone additional training and certification in the restoration and replacement of broken or missing teeth. It is the branch of dentistry that also specializes in understanding the dynamics of the smile, preserving a healthy mouth, and creating tooth replacements. Prosthodontists often work closely with other members of the oral health care team in restoring natural teeth, replacing missing teeth, and/or developing artificial substitutes for damaged oral and maxillofacial tissues.

Dr. Finger specializes in removable prosthetics (dentures) and implant restorations. He received his Masters Degree in Prosthodontics from Ohio State University, followed by additional specialized training in Maxillo-Facial Prosthetics at Roswell Park Institute in Buffalo, New York, where he focused on oral-facial defects such as Cleft Palate, and post oral cancer reconstruction. For 28 years, Dr. Finger has been a Professor at LSU Medical Center, where he was Director of the Graduate Program in Prosthodontics. He has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, and has authored numerous journal articles and contributed to text books.

Dr. Finger looks forward to providing North Shore patients with quality dentures and beautiful smiles and is happy to work with complex cases.

- I've been active in my husband's dental practice since 1984. My focus is on office systems and procedures, policy, long-range planning, research and development, property and equipment acquisition and implementation.

I grew up in close-by Tylertown, MS, but moved to Alabama with my family in 1973. I received a degree in Journalism from The University of Alabama. I moved back to my Mother's home, New Orleans, to work and subsequently met and married Dr. Moreau in 1983.

I balance helping to manage the dental practice with raising four children-two girls and twin boys.

Hi! My name is Jill, and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and Periodontal Therapist here at MoreSmiles. I'm a relative newcomer at MoreSmiles, but I have loved every minute of it!

I had the privilege of living in Fort Walton Beach, FL, for five years and graduated in 2002 with a degree from Pensacola Junior College in Dental Hygiene. My husband, twin daughters, and I have lived on the Northshore just a short while, moving here from Meridian, MS. All of us love the community and our church we attend, FBC Covington.

Outside the office, I enjoy exercising, spending time with my family, trips to the beach, and attending Ole Miss football games. Inside the office, I strive to give excellent hygiene care to our patients. My goal is to provide thorough dental cleanings, periodontal therapies, patient education and a gentle dental experience for everyone.

I often get teased for my heavy southern accent, but often use it to express one of my favorite sayings, "Only floss the teeth you want to keep!"

Hi, my name is Theresa, and I'm a full-time Registered Dental Hygienist and Periodontal Therapist at MoreSmiles. Not only am I trained to provide professional dental cleanings and new patient exams, but I also employ the latest therapies and technology to help periodontal patients heal and manage gum disease.

I try to always educate my patients on the importance of dental health and its correlation with total body wellness. Studies have proven that patients with periodontal disease, including gingivitis, have a higher incidence of diabetes mellitus, heart disease, low birth-weight babies, and respiratory disease. I take my responsibility very seriously since I understand that regular and thorough dental check-ups can aid in early detection of these other conditions.

I take pride in providing patients with a comprehensive hygiene visit where education, oral health, and relaxation come together. At every visit, your gums will be checked for disease, including bleeding gums (gingivitis), recession, deep pockets and bone loss. Individualized education and home care tools will be given for your state of health. I attended Southeastern Louisiana University and then was accepted into the LSU dental hygiene program where I received my Bachelor of Science degree. I was very fortunate to be able to continue post-graduate study with Dr. Moreau at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. I completed Dynamic Team Training and Evolutionary Hygiene courses.

Prior to Hurricane Katrina, I worked on the South shore. However, the storm has landed my husband and I on the North shore, and our lives are very different. Since October, 2005, I have enjoyed working at MoreSmiles and am strongly committed to the team of professionals Dr. Moreau has put together and to the health and education of our patients! My husband and I have built a home in Abita Springs and are happy to be settled. I am an avid runner and love to exercise. We also enjoy cooking, eating out and relaxing together.
