Microdentistry techniques use a variety of special dyes, magnification and air abrasion to help us protect your natural tooth surfaces. In small to medium sized cavities we can avoid using any rotary instruments ("the drill"). This prevents taking away good tooth structure or the unnecessary risk of fracturing teeth.
We seek the earliest possible detection of decay so that your potential problems are resolved even before they would become visible to the naked eye. A tiny filling done through air abrasion is painless and leaves a much healthier tooth than the older methods of replacing a large surface section.
AIR ABRASION allows a tiny (but powerful) particle beam of air to be sprayed against the tooth and remove decay and old fillings. Most patients report that they "can't even feel" the device at work. The result is that needles and drills are no longer needed in preparing many fillings.
